UAE Becomes First Country to Use Drone Technology for Moon Sighting in Ramadan

The United Arab Emirates has become the first country in the world to use drone technology to sight the moon for the holy month of Ramadan.

The UAE Fatwa Council announced that drones, operated by artificial intelligence, will be used to observe the Ramadan moon. The council stated that using drones for moon sighting will be considered an extension of traditional moon-sighting methods, and the use of both modern and traditional techniques will be employed.

Additionally, during Ramadan, the UAE government has also announced a reduction of two hours in the working hours for both public and private sector employees to accommodate the spiritual significance of the month.
