PTI’s Barrister Saif Vows Accountability for Islamabad Tragedy, Calls Out Govt for Brutality
Islamabad:Barrister Saif, the Information Minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has strongly condemned the recent events in Islamabad, describing them as acts of brutality. Speaking in a statement, he emphasized that international human rights organizations are actively addressing the violence that took place, and vowed to seek justice for those who made sacrifices in the struggle for true freedom.
He remarked, “The blood of those who sacrificed for real freedom will not go in vain. We will ensure full accountability for those responsible for these atrocities.”
Barrister Saif, reflecting on the history of political oppression in Pakistan, noted that each government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had been marked by stories of brutality and injustice. “The cruelty of each regime surpasses the brutality of the previous one,” he added.
In his statement, Barrister Saif also drew comparisons with the tragic events of the 2014 Model Town incident, in which pregnant women were reportedly targeted by police. “Just as in the Model Town tragedy, where even pregnant women were shot at, now, in D-Chowk, unarmed PTI workers were subjected to gunfire,” he pointed out, condemning the government’s actions during the Islamabad protests.
The PTI leader’s comments come in the wake of violent clashes between party workers and security forces during the Islamabad protest. Several PTI members, including supporters and activists, were injured in the crackdown, leading to widespread condemnation from within the party and across human rights circles.
Barrister Saif further criticized the government for its heavy-handed tactics, calling for justice and accountability for the deaths and injuries caused during the operation, and promised that PTI would continue to stand for the rights of its workers and the people.
