Peshawar Police Arrest Suspect in Murder of Dancer, Body Disposed After Acid Attack

Peshawar Police have arrested a man accused of murdering a local dancer, Nadia, and disposing of her body in a field after keeping it in an apartment for three days. The suspect allegedly poured acid on her face to destroy her identity before abandoning the body.

According to Peshawar Police, the incident occurred on February 14, but the body was discovered on February 18 in the Gulbela area of Daud Zai. The suspect reportedly kept the body in an apartment for three days. As the body began to decompose, he used acid to disfigure her face, making identification difficult.

The investigative officer, Bakht Munir, stated that the murder followed a minor altercation between Nadia and the suspect, who had been friends for four years. He revealed that Nadia had been living in a rented apartment in the Faqirabad area and was earning money by performing at private parties.

The suspect, identified as a laborer, allegedly shot and killed Nadia after an argument on February 14. Fearful of being caught, he kept the body hidden for three days. When the stench became unbearable, he and his accomplice decided to dispose of the body in the dark of night, placing it in an Alto car and dumping it in Gulbela.

Police were able to identify the body using fingerprints, and Nadia’s brother later came forward, filing a report. Authorities confirmed that Nadia had been divorced in 2020 and had faced estrangement from her family. The suspect had helped her with rent and living expenses.

The suspect confessed to the crime, and police investigations suggest that the dispute between him and Nadia revolved around her refusal to attend dance parties. The situation escalated, leading to the murder. Police are still searching for the second suspect involved in the crime.

Police also raised concerns about the financial dynamics behind the case, noting that the suspect, a laborer, had been able to afford rent for the apartment and support his family while also providing for Nadia’s living expenses. This raised questions about the potential involvement of other parties, including Nadia’s association with other dancers and their involvement in private dance parties.

The investigation continues, with police examining all possible motives behind the crime, including financial pressures and personal disputes.
