Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains resolute in hosting all matches of the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, regardless of India’s participation, and will maintain a consistent stance. Additionally, PCB has declared that if the Indian team does not participate, Pakistan will reciprocate by not attending the 2026 T20 World Cup in India.
While Pakistan holds the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy 2025, discussions are underway at the ICC’s annual meeting in Colombo, Sri Lanka, regarding alternative venues. PCB Chairman Mohsin Khan is expected to participate in this meeting scheduled from July 19 to 22.
Sources indicate that PCB is committed to hosting all eight team matches of the Champions Trophy and is investing heavily in stadium upgrades despite ongoing discussions about Plan B and high-level venues. The PCB intends to present its stance firmly at the ICC meeting, emphasizing that maintaining events in Pakistan is a priority.
It is noted that besides India, all other teams of the Champions Trophy have previously played in Pakistan, underscoring Pakistan’s determination to uphold a strong stance. Should India choose not to participate, Pakistan plans to adopt a similarly firm position for future events, including the 2026 T20 World Cup, ensuring consistency with past precedents.
