Health Experts Recommend Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables for Boosting Immunity in Winter

Health experts have advised consuming fresh vegetables and fruits during the winter months to prevent flu, cough, and other chest infections, while also strengthening the immune system.
Dr. Ghalib Agha, speaking on a private TV channel on Sunday, explained that with the increase in cold weather, the body’s immune system has to work harder, making it more vulnerable to flu, cough, and chest infections. These issues particularly affect people of all ages, especially children.
Dr. Agha emphasized the importance of a healthy diet to boost immunity, recommending that people consume a balanced diet rich in vegetables and seasonal fruits, which are packed with essential nutrients and antioxidants that help strengthen the immune system.
He mentioned that seasonal fruits and vegetables should be rich in essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Examples include lemons, sweet potatoes, carrots, and leafy greens, all of which can help enhance immunity and reduce the risk of illness.
Dr. Ghalib also encouraged adopting natural remedies to tackle rising health concerns. He recommended drinking traditional Pakistani herbal teas or infusions to alleviate symptoms of flu, cough, and chest infections.
He explained that herbal teas made with a blend of herbs and spices possess natural anti-inflammatory properties, which soothe the throat and chest while providing relief from coughing.
