Pakistan, Malaysia Agree to Strengthen Cooperation Against Terrorism, Drug Trafficking and Human Smuggling

Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to enhance joint cooperation in combating terrorism, drug trafficking and human smuggling, while also strengthening bilateral ties and institutional cooperation.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Malaysian Interior Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, during which the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, institutional links and trade between the two countries.

President Zardari said there was significant demand in Malaysia for Pakistani products, including rice, potatoes, wheat, poultry and animal feed. He stressed the need to further promote bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The Malaysian interior minister also held a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. During delegation-level talks, both sides agreed to establish a Joint Working Group to enhance cooperation on security and related matters.

Mohsin Naqvi said that an increase in the workers’ quota would enable more Pakistanis to travel to Malaysia through legal channels, creating additional employment opportunities for Pakistani workers.
