PML-N Leaders Want Imran Khan Shifted to Hospital, But Maryam Opposes It: Junaid Akbar

ISLAMABAD (Qudrat Daily): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Junaid Akbar has claimed that most members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) want former prime minister Imran Khan to be shifted to a hospital, but Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is opposed to the move.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Junaid Akbar alleged that the government was concerned that a court decision could reduce the distance between state institutions and the public.

He claimed that the government feared that if relations between institutions and the people improved, it would become difficult for the government to continue in power. He further alleged that Maryam Nawaz knew her government depended on external support and wanted Imran Khan to remain in jail.

Junaid Akbar said Maryam Nawaz wanted to keep the public and state institutions apart, alleging that she feared losing power if that support was withdrawn.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced the formation of a united opposition.

According to media reports, Maulana Fazlur Rehman held an important meeting with National Assembly opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, during which the two leaders agreed to establish a united opposition.

Speaking to the media, Fazlur Rehman said the opposition leaders in the Senate and National Assembly had agreed to work toward forming a united opposition and that they wanted to play a joint parliamentary role.

He said further meetings would be held and expressed hope that the initiative would prove to be a positive beginning. Responding to a question about the Pakistan Peoples Party, Fazlur Rehman said the PPP was part of the government and added that an environment should also be created for an All Parties Conference of opposition parties.
