Balochistan Facing Severe Crisis of Insecurity, Uncertainty and Government Failure: Maulana Abdul Wasay

QUETTA (Qudrat Daily): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan Emir Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay has said the province is facing a severe crisis of insecurity, uncertainty and government failure, with innocent citizens being killed and government installations and police stations being attacked.

He said the government had completely failed to establish law and order and protect the lives and property of citizens, leaving the people effectively at the mercy of militants. He also alleged that government representatives were using state resources for their own security instead of focusing on protecting the public.

Maulana Abdul Wasay said the Balochistan issue could not be resolved through the use of force or administrative coercion, arguing that force had never provided a sustainable solution to complex political and national issues.

He called for all stakeholders, including political forces, tribal elders, elected representatives and relevant state institutions, to sit together for meaningful, serious and result-oriented political dialogue aimed at reaching an acceptable solution.

He said Balochistan’s development process had not only stalled but the province was once again being pushed toward conditions reminiscent of the worst period of the 1990s. Peace, investment, employment and economic activity were being severely affected, while the trust deficit between the state and the people continued to deepen.

According to Maulana Abdul Wasay, the establishment of a government with genuine public support and a real mandate was a fundamental requirement for resolving Balochistan’s problems. He said no political or administrative arrangement could bring lasting stability without the confidence of the people.

He urged the federal government to take the initiative to restore public confidence in Balochistan and avoid allowing the process of forming a people’s government to be undermined by political bargaining, manipulation and behind-the-scenes deals.

The JUI leader said decisions and political arrangements made behind closed doors, including those associated with the Serena Hotel plan and Murree agreements, had weakened Balochistan’s political and democratic structure and damaged public trust.

He said the time had come to learn from past mistakes and provide the people of Balochistan with their genuine political rights, empowered representation and lasting peace.

He stressed that Balochistan could not be brought out of its crisis through force, but only through justice, political inclusion, a genuine public mandate, constitutional rights and meaningful negotiations.
