Amendment for Creation of New Provinces Will Come Without Rana Sanaullah Knowing: Mustafa Kamal
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister and senior MQM leader Mustafa Kamal has said that an amendment regarding the creation of new provinces and administrative units in Pakistan could be introduced without even Federal Adviser Rana Sanaullah being aware of it.
Speaking on a Geo News talk show, Kamal said politicians opposing or expressing concern over the creation of new administrative units should go and debate the issue at the place from where the discussion originally began.
He said those responsible for bringing about the proposed system and reforms would also be able to push through the creation of new administrative units.
Discussing Pakistan’s existing governance structure, the federal minister said decision-makers had now realised that if the country was to move forward and be governed effectively, there was no option other than creating new administrative units.

He said Karachi should be at the top of the priority list for such administrative reforms.
Kamal also proposed a practical formula for implementing the plan, suggesting that all 32 existing divisions in the country should be converted into permanent administrative units.
He pointed out that the boundaries of these divisions were already defined and established. Under the proposed system, district police officers could be given powers equivalent to those of inspector generals, while deputy commissioners could be granted powers similar to those of chief secretaries.
According to Mustafa Kamal, implementing the proposal would not place any additional financial burden on the government or the national exchequer.
