Iran Warns US of Consequences Over Any Attempt to Control Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN:Iranian Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami has warned the United States that it would regret any attempt to seize or establish control over the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iran’s official IRNA news agency, Hatami said the Iranian armed forces were fully prepared to confront any hostile plan and would take all necessary measures to defend the country’s national interests.
The warning comes amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States over the strategically vital waterway. The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea and serves as a major global route for oil shipments.
Hatami said Washington would have to face the consequences if it attempted to take control of the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed that Iranian forces were prepared to respond to any potential action against the country.
Iranian military leaders have repeatedly maintained that Tehran would use all necessary defensive capabilities to protect its sovereignty and national interests.
