‘We Don’t Need Any Good News,’ Says Aqeel Karim Dhedhi

KARACHI: Prominent businessman Aqeel Karim Dhedhi has said that Pakistan could witness positive developments in investment in the coming days, but urged the government to avoid taking decisions that could undermine the business and investment environment.
Speaking about the country’s economic outlook, Dhedhi said he did not need any major “good news” at present. Instead, he appealed to the government to ensure that no further decision was taken that could create difficulties for the national economy or investors.

He said investment opportunities existed in Pakistan and investment could increase in the coming days. He stressed that the government should focus on restoring the confidence of the business community and creating a conducive environment for investment.
Dhedhi further said policy continuity and clear decision-making were extremely important for economic affairs. The government, he added, should avoid measures that could create uncertainty among investors.
“We don’t need any good news. I only have one request for the government: please don’t give us another shock,” he said.
