Five Killed, 15 Injured in Suspected Suicide Blast Near Police Station in Swat’s Kabal
Islamabad: At least five people were killed and 15 others injured in a blast near the Kabal Police Station in Swat district on Sunday, according to local authorities.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Malakand Syed Fida Hussain told Geo News that the explosion occurred near the entrance of the police station. He said the suspected suicide bomber attempted to enter the premises but was stopped by security personnel on duty. The attacker then detonated the explosives near the main gate.
The DIG added that a protest by local youth was taking place in the area at the time of the explosion, which may have contributed to the number of casualties.
District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Omar said that a human head was recovered from the blast site, adding that it is believed to belong to the suspected suicide attacker.
According to the Assistant Commissioner of Kabal, the explosion claimed the lives of five people and left 15 others injured. Authorities have launched an investigation, while rescue teams shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
