11 Martyred, 30 Injured in Suicide Attack on Aman Mela Check Post in DI Khan

Dera Ismail Khan: At least 11 people were martyred and 30 others injured in a suspected suicide attack on the anti-smuggling “Aman Mela Police Check Post” in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday.

According to initial reports and Rescue 1122, the blast occurred on the D.I. Khan-Quetta Road when an explosives-laden vehicle was rammed into the check post, causing a powerful explosion.

Sources said six police personnel, two Customs officials, two women and a two-year-old child were among those martyred in the attack. More than 30 people, including police personnel, Customs officials and civilians, were injured, with some reported to be in critical condition.

Rescue 1122 said its team from the Darazinda station immediately reached the site after receiving information about the explosion and began relief operations. Four additional ambulances, along with their staff, were dispatched from Dera Ismail Khan to assist in the rescue effort.

According to Rescue 1122, 30 injured people were provided medical assistance and shifted to hospitals, while the bodies of 11 victims were also transported from the scene.

Security forces and law-enforcement personnel reached the site, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation following the attack.

The incident has also raised concerns over security in the area, particularly around the anti-smuggling checkpoint. Officials and sources are investigating the circumstances and those responsible for the attack.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi sought a report from the relevant authorities over the incident and condemned the attack. He described it as a “nefarious conspiracy” by what he termed “Fitna al-Hindustan Khawarij” and directed that all possible medical assistance be provided to the injured.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to media reports.
