Registrar Flags Alleged Illegal Construction and Plot Sales in PIDC Multipurpose Cooperative Society Karachi
KARACHI: The Registrar of Cooperative Societies has raised concerns over alleged encroachments, unauthorized constructions, and the illegal sale and allotment of plots belonging to legitimate members of the PIDC Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Karachi, and has written separate letters to the Director General of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), the Deputy Commissioner East, and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East seeking immediate action.
Referring to an earlier letter dated July 8, 2026, the Registrar’s Office requested the relevant authorities to ensure that no illegal construction or encroachments take place in view of the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and restrictions imposed in connection with an ongoing investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh.
According to the Registrar, the office has been continuously receiving serious complaints from the society’s legitimate members regarding alleged illegal activities and irregularities committed by the current administration of the cooperative society.
The complaints allege that unauthorized constructions, illegal encroachments, unlawful sale and allotment of land, and other irregular activities are being carried out in blatant violation of applicable laws and the directives and orders issued by competent authorities and legal forums.
It has further been alleged that the present administration is misleading members of the public by encouraging them to enter into transactions involving disputed properties and plots despite the restrictions currently in place on such dealings.
The Registrar warned that if these activities are allowed to continue, innocent purchasers and the society’s genuine members could suffer financial and legal losses. Furthermore, such actions may complicate the legal and investigative proceedings that are presently pending before the relevant authorities.
Reiterating the need for urgent intervention, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies has requested the concerned departments to take appropriate legal action on a priority basis to safeguard the interests and rights of the legitimate members of the PIDC Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited.
The allegations remain subject to legal and administrative scrutiny, and no final determination has yet been made by the competent authorities regarding the claims against the society’s current administration.
