Islamabad Petrol Pump Sealed After Allegedly Filling 61 Litres in a 50-Litre Car Fuel Tank
Islamabad: Authorities in Islamabad have sealed a petrol pump and arrested its manager after a citizen complained that 61 litres of petrol had allegedly been dispensed into a vehicle with a fuel tank capacity of 50 litres, raising concerns of fuel measurement fraud.
The incident comes at a time when consumers across Pakistan are already grappling with rising petroleum prices and inflation. Allegations of under-measurement and fraudulent practices at some petrol stations have further heightened public concern over consumer protection.

According to the district administration, a complaint was lodged against a petrol pump located in Islamabad’s I-9 sector after a motorist claimed that 61 litres of petrol had been filled into his car despite its fuel tank having a maximum capacity of 50 litres. Suspecting malpractice, the citizen reported the matter to the authorities.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Assistant Commissioner of the Industrial Area, acting in the capacity of a magistrate, immediately visited the site and carried out an inspection, including verification of the fuel dispensing measurements and other operational aspects of the petrol station.
Preliminary findings reportedly substantiated the complaint, following which the petrol pump was sealed on the spot. The station’s manager was taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him. The administration also imposed a fine on the petrol pump for the alleged violations.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon directed officials to respond promptly to citizens’ complaints and emphasized that indiscriminate action would continue against individuals or businesses involved in fuel measurement tampering, fraud, or consumer exploitation to safeguard the rights of the public.
