KP Wheat Scandal: Bail Pleas of Arrested Officers Rejected by Peshawar High Court

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court has rejected the bail applications of two individuals arrested in connection with the wheat scandal in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The court announced its reserved verdict in the case of Arshad, a storage officer, and Tilla Muhammad, a former employee, denying both requests for bail.
According to Additional Advocate General Muhammad Inaam Yousafzai, Arshad was serving as a storage officer in Azakhel, while Tilla Muhammad is a former government employee. Both are accused of involvement in the disappearance of 1,730 metric tons of wheat — approximately 3,300 sacks — from the Azakhel storage facility.
The Anti-Corruption Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conducted an investigation into the scandal, registered a case against the accused, and subsequently arrested them. Earlier, an anti-corruption court had also rejected their bail applications. The Peshawar High Court has now upheld that decision, keeping the accused in custody as legal proceedings continue.
