Bread and Naan Prices Rise After Petrol Price Hike in Pakistan

Islamabad:Following the recent increase in petrol prices, traditional bakers (naanbais) have announced higher prices for bread and naan in several parts of Pakistan.

Bakers have increased the price of **roti** by **Rs9** and **naan** by **Rs10**, bringing the new prices to **Rs25 for a roti** and **Rs35 for a naan**.

The bakers said the price of a **20-kilogram flour bag** has reached **Rs2,400**, making it difficult to continue selling bread at previous rates. They warned that if authorities do not allow them to charge the revised prices, they may shut down their tandoors.

Responding to the development, the **Director General of Food** said wheat prices are expected to decline over time, which could help stabilize flour and bread prices.

Meanwhile, in **Peshawar**, the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag has increased by **Rs300**, reaching **Rs3,000**.

In **Quetta**, a 20-kilogram flour bag now costs **Rs2,800**, while a single roti is being sold for **Rs40** at local tandoors.
