JUI-F Quetta Voices Concern Over Security Situation, Backs Province-Wide Shutdown Strike
Quetta: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Quetta chapter has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the provincial capital, alleging that armed groups are operating freely due to government inaction.
The party’s district executive committee met at its district secretariat under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Rahman Rafiq, where members reviewed organizational matters, discussed public issues, and assessed the security situation in Quetta.
Participants claimed that the presence and unrestricted movement of armed groups in different parts of the city, coupled with what they described as the negligence of law enforcement agencies, has increased fear and insecurity among residents. The meeting called on the authorities to take immediate and effective measures to protect the lives and property of citizens.
The committee also condemned the recent attacks on civilians and police personnel in Hanna Urak and Mangi Ziarat, expressing condolences to the families of those killed and urging the government to take practical steps to establish lasting peace in the affected areas.
During the meeting, JUI-F announced its full support for the all-parties shutter-down strike scheduled for July 17 and formed various committees to coordinate participation. Party workers were also instructed to actively join the ongoing sit-in at Kohla Phatak.
The meeting further condemned what it described as a coordinated social media campaign targeting JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman following his recent public gathering in Punjab. Party leaders claimed that the campaign was being directed from a single source and said the public stands behind Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s position. They urged those responsible to respond to his questions rather than engage in what they called propaganda.
The committee also offered condolences on the death of Haji Muhammad Akbar Achakzai, father of JUI-F Quetta patron Haji Naimatullah Achakzai, and prayed for the deceased’s forgiveness.
