Mahmood Khan Achakzai Urges Regional Unity, Calls for Peaceful Pakistan-Afghanistan Ties

Islamabad:Opposition alliance leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai has emphasized the need for improved Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and called on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to play an active role in resolving Afghan issues.

Speaking to the media outside the Parliament House, Achakzai said he has been personally working to enhance bilateral ties with Afghanistan. He warned that certain global powers are pushing for conflict in the region and stressed the importance of diplomatic collaboration to maintain peace.

“China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan’s foreign ministers have come together for talks,” he noted, urging all parties to capitalize on figures like Sadiq Khan, who enjoys good relations with Afghanistan. “Afghanistan is our neighbor, and it is vital for regional peace that we set aside our differences and move forward together.”

He called on regional countries to shield the area from warfare and reiterated his belief in Pakistan’s democratic values. Referring to the detention of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Achakzai stated, “Keeping the PTI founder in jail is unjust; he should be released respectfully.”

Achakzai concluded by emphasizing the need for **mutual respect among political parties**, calling it essential for the nation’s stability and democratic future.
