Young Doctors Announce Protest Rally on July 16, Criticize Balochistan Government’s ‘Silence’

QUETTA: The Young Doctors Association Balochistan (YDA) has announced a major protest rally on July 16, accusing the Balochistan government of maintaining a “criminal silence” for the past 37 days over its demands for justice and improved security in public hospitals.
In a statement, the association’s spokesperson said the YDA has been protesting for the past 37 days, demanding justice, effective security arrangements in government hospitals, and greater accountability within the Health Department. As part of the protest, doctors across the province have continued to boycott outpatient departments (OPDs).
The spokesperson criticized what the association described as the provincial government’s indifferent response, alleging that the authorities had prioritized defending the Health Secretary while ignoring the deteriorating security situation in public hospitals.
According to the statement, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics no longer feel safe while performing their duties in government healthcare facilities.
The YDA reiterated that its protest, including the OPD boycott, will continue until the dismissal of the provincial Health Secretary and the Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Quetta, as well as the establishment of a judicial commission to conduct a transparent investigation into the alleged attack on Dr. Mah Noor Nasir.
The association also announced that a grand protest rally will be held on July 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., starting from Civil Hospital Quetta, and urged all doctors to participate in large numbers to demonstrate unity in support of their demands.
