Wreckage of Missing Cargo Plane Found Off Ormara Coast, Search Continues for Five Crew Members

Karachi: The wreckage of a private cargo aircraft that went missing while flying from Sharjah to Karachi has been located in the Arabian Sea, while search and rescue operations for the five crew members remain underway.

In a statement, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said the search operation is being jointly conducted by the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA).

According to the PAA, after more than 12 hours of search efforts, the wreckage of the K2 Airways Boeing 737 cargo aircraft was found 53 nautical miles south of the Ormara coast.

The authority said rescue teams are continuing operations in the area to recover further evidence and locate the missing crew members.

The PAA added that both naval vessels and aircraft of the Pakistan Navy and PMSA are actively participating in the ongoing search mission.

The cargo aircraft disappeared from radar on Wednesday night while en route from Sharjah to Karachi. Earlier, the PAA had stated that the flight crew had reported a technical malfunction shortly before contact with the aircraft was lost.

The aircraft was carrying five crew members. According to officials, the plane had been in Sharjah for five days for repairs following a technical fault and was returning to Karachi on a ferry flight without cargo when the incident occurred.

Authorities said the investigation into the crash will continue as rescue teams remain engaged in the search operation.
