Senate Unanimously Passes Resolution Condemning Indian Aggression; All Parties Show Unity

Islamabad: The Senate of Pakistan on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution condemning Indian aggression and recent hostile actions, with support from all political parties, including the opposition.
The session was chaired by Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani, where Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar presented the resolution. The Senate suspended the question-and-answer session to prioritize the discussion on Indian actions.
Addressing the Senate, Ishaq Dar issued a strong warning to India, stating, “If anyone dares to look at us with hostile intent, they will receive a response stronger than ever before—just as we have responded in the past.”
Dar condemned the killing of tourists in the Indian-occupied Kashmir region of Pahalgam, while criticizing India for its immediate and unfounded blame on Pakistan. He revealed that a National Security Committee meeting was held, during which Pakistan decided to take two countermeasures in response to Indian provocations.
Rejecting India’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, Dar declared, “This water is the lifeline of the people of Pakistan, and we do not accept any unilateral decision regarding it.”
He further announced immediate closure of the Wagah border and directed that all Indian nationals in Pakistan under the SAARC visa scheme must leave the country within 48 hours. However, Sikh pilgrims will be exempt from these orders.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that India’s first aggression was against the Indus Waters Treaty, which the National Security Committee unanimously categorized as an act of war. In response, the committee recommended suspension of all bilateral agreements with India.
Additionally, in the Senate session, prayers were offered for the late brother of Senator Fauzia Arshad. Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar also presented a bill for the establishment of a Whistleblower Protection and Oversight Commission, which was forwarded to the relevant committee for further deliberation.
