Wheat and Flour Prices Rise in Sindh Despite Record Wheat Harvest

Islamabad: Wheat and flour prices have increased in Sindh despite the province recording a bumper wheat harvest, according to market sources.
Market officials said the price of a 100-kilogram wheat bag has risen by Rs4,000 over the past three months.
According to flour mill owners, a 100-kilogram bag of wheat was selling for Rs7,800 during March and April. However, by July, its price had climbed to Rs11,800.
The increase in wheat prices has also pushed up flour prices. Flour mill owners said the retail price of flour has risen from Rs135 per kilogram to Rs145 per kilogram following the latest increase in raw material costs.
The reasons behind the price surge despite record wheat production were not immediately explained, and no official statement had been issued on the increase at the time of reporting.
