KARACHI: The widow of a man who was killed in a water tanker accident in Karachi has filed a compensation suit exceeding Rs1.3 billion against the tanker owner and driver in the Senior Civil Judge (East) Court.
According to the petitioner’s counsel, Advocate Usman Farooq, the claim has been filed under the Fatal Accidents Act, seeking more than Rs1.3 billion in damages for the loss suffered by the deceased’s family.
The lawyer told the court that the fatal accident occurred in March 2026 near Chamra Chowrangi in Korangi Industrial Area, where a speeding water tanker allegedly ran over the victim, resulting in his death.
The petition states that the deceased was the sole breadwinner of his family, and his death has left his widow and dependents facing severe and ongoing financial hardship.
The compensation claim seeks to hold both the tanker owner and the driver legally responsible for the fatal accident and the economic losses suffered by the victim’s family. The court is expected to take up the matter in accordance with the relevant legal procedure.
