China Successfully Test-Fires Strategic Submarine-Launched Missile into Pacific

Beijing:China has successfully conducted a test launch of a strategic submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), according to the country’s state news agency.

The report said the test missile, equipped with a dummy warhead, landed at a designated location in the Pacific Ocean. Chinese authorities described the launch as part of a routine military training program.

The state news agency stated that the missile test was carried out in accordance with international law and that relevant countries were notified in advance. It also emphasized that the launch was not directed at any specific country or intended target.

Japan confirmed it had been informed of the test beforehand but said it had urged China to reconsider conducting the launch. Meanwhile, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong acknowledged receiving prior notification but expressed concern, stating that ballistic missile tests contribute to regional instability.
