Pakistan Is a Sovereign Country, Not Subordinate to Anyone: Putin’s Strong Reply to Indian Journalist

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a sharp and clear response to an Indian journalist during a question related to Pakistan and China, leaving the reporter reportedly speechless.
Speaking at a media interaction during the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, Putin was asked a question reflecting concerns over Pakistan-China relations. The Russian president, however, rejected the premise of the question.
He stated that Pakistan is a large and sovereign country that is not subordinate to anyone. He emphasized that Pakistan maintains diverse and multi-dimensional relations with countries around the world.
Putin further said that cooperation between Pakistan and China is important, but it is incorrect to assume that Pakistan is completely under China’s influence. He added that many countries are strengthening ties with China as part of normal international diplomacy.
Referring to Russia-China relations, he said that defense and military cooperation between Moscow and Beijing has long been ongoing and will continue in the future. He described the relationship as based on mutual interests and a strategic partnership.
On a question regarding Iran, Putin said Russia has trust-based relations with Tehran and can play a positive role in reducing tensions in the region.
The remarks are being seen as an important diplomatic signal in which the Russian president acknowledged Pakistan’s sovereign foreign policy and independent international standing.
