Complete Wheel-Jam Strike in Harnai Over Mangi and Shahrag Tragic Incidents; Roads Blocked, Passengers Stranded

Harnai (News Desk): A complete wheel-jam strike was observed across Harnai district on the appeal of the “Shuhada-e-Watan Tehreek” in protest against the tragic incidents of Mangi (21 May) and Shahrag (26 May), resulting in the closure of major highways and link roads.

According to details, all traffic on the Harnai–Quetta and Harnai–Punjab national highways, as well as roads connecting rural areas, remained completely suspended. The strike was part of an ongoing protest campaign led by the Shuhada-e-Watan Committee Harnai.

The group is protesting over the 21 May incident in Mangi, where unknown armed men reportedly set trucks on fire and abducted Mastar Sheen Gul Tareen before killing him, as well as the 26 May incident at Sheikh Musa Baba Chowngi in Shahrag, where five people were killed and four others injured in firing.

Due to the closure of roads, passengers traveling to and from Harnai, particularly women, children, patients, and elderly people, faced severe difficulties amid extreme heat.

The protest organizers demanded the arrest of those involved in both incidents, official recognition of the martyrs, and compensation for truck owners whose vehicles were burned.

They warned that the peaceful protest would continue in phases until their demands are accepted. They also expressed disappointment over the provincial assembly’s response, stating that no prayer (Fateha) was offered for the victims during the session, unlike other incidents, calling it a discriminatory and regrettable act.
