JUI Condemns Sharp Rise in Flour Prices in Quetta, Calls for Immediate Relief for Public
QUETTA (Daily Qudrat): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Quetta district leaders have strongly criticized the sharp increase in flour prices, saying the rising cost of basic food items has made it increasingly difficult for poor families to afford even two meals a day.
The statement was issued by JUI Quetta District Emir Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Abdul Rahman Rafiq, General Secretary Haji Ainullah Shams, Senior Vice Emir Maulana Khursheed Ahmed, Maulana Mohibullah, Maulana Muhammad Ayub, Sheikh Maulana Abdul Ahad Muhammad Hasni, Maulana Saeed Ahmed, Hafiz Sirajuddin, Mufti Muhammad Rozi Khan Badizai, Maulana Muhammad Shoaib Jadoon, Rahimuddin Advocate and Maulana Muhammad Arif Shamsheer.
The JUI leaders said the people of Balochistan were already facing severe inflation, unemployment, poverty and economic hardship, while the province’s resources were allegedly being diverted away from public welfare due to corruption.
They alleged that the rulers were more focused on protecting their power and personal interests than providing relief to the people. They said continuous increases in the prices of flour, sugar, food items and other essential commodities had placed an unbearable burden on ordinary citizens.
The leaders said rising inflation and unemployment had pushed many families into severe financial distress, with some people facing extremely desperate circumstances.
They also expressed concern over the closure of borders, restrictions on trade and insecurity on highways, saying these factors had severely affected economic and commercial activities in Balochistan.
They pointed out that the livelihoods of thousands of families were linked to border and trading activities, but the authorities had failed to take serious and effective measures to resolve the situation permanently.
The JUI leaders said rulers sitting in comfortable surroundings had little understanding of the hunger, unemployment and economic difficulties faced by ordinary people.
They demanded that the government move beyond statements and symbolic measures and take practical steps to immediately reduce the prices of flour and other essential commodities, eliminate artificial price hikes and hoarding, create employment opportunities and restore border and commercial activities.
They stressed that immediate relief and effective economic measures were essential to protect the people of Balochistan from further hardship.
