PkMAP Condemns Arrests and Use of Force in Azad Kashmir, Calls for Dialogue

Quetta (Kudrat Daily) — The central secretariat of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkMAP) has strongly condemned the alleged use of force, arrests, and repression by security institutions against protesters in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, the party said that attempts to silence peaceful citizens seeking their constitutional, democratic, and human rights through force and arrests are contrary to democratic values and fundamental human rights.
PkMAP maintained that public issues should be resolved through dialogue, mutual understanding, political wisdom, and democratic processes rather than coercive measures. The party also demanded immediate, independent, transparent, and impartial judicial investigations into recent incidents, including reported deaths, injuries, and arrests.
According to the press release, the Kashmir Public Action Committee enjoys broad public support and represents a peaceful movement for securing economic, social, constitutional, and democratic rights. The party argued that meaningful negotiations should have been pursued instead of the use of force.
The statement further warned that delays or failure to implement accepted public demands could undermine public trust and deepen the political crisis.
PkMAP emphasized that the issue of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination is an important political and historical matter that should be addressed in accordance with public opinion, democratic principles, and political consultation.
Referring to the former FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other constitutionally sensitive regions, the party said that some past decisions had created political, economic, administrative, and security-related challenges whose effects are still being felt today. It stressed that future decisions on such matters should be made through public consultation and in line with constitutional requirements.
The party called for the creation of an environment conducive to dialogue in Azad Kashmir, relief for detained political and public leaders in accordance with the law, and meaningful negotiations with the Public Action Committee and other representative groups.
PkMAP reaffirmed its commitment to supporting democratic rights, constitutional freedoms, human dignity, political justice, and the right of people to participate in democratic decision-making, while continuing its political struggle for peace, democracy, justice, and human rights.
