Federal Government Proposes Funding for Karachi Development Projects in Upcoming Budget

Karachi: The federal government has decided to allocate funds for several ongoing and new development projects in Karachi under the upcoming federal budget, according to budget proposal documents.
The documents propose an allocation of Rs1.98 billion for the Green Line Bus project in Karachi, aimed at supporting the city’s public transport infrastructure.
In addition, funds have been earmarked for a range of civic improvement projects, including road construction and rehabilitation, street development, water supply systems, and drainage infrastructure across various districts of the city.
According to the proposals, Rs260 million has been allocated for infrastructure restoration in Karachi’s West District, while Rs370 million has been proposed for similar works in Nazimabad and Liaquatabad.
The budget also includes a proposed allocation of Rs350 million for roads, water supply, drainage systems, and playground development in Landhi, Zaman Town, and Korangi Town.
For Karachi Central District, Rs45 million has been proposed for the improvement of roads, streets, water supply networks, and drainage facilities. Meanwhile, Rs50 million has been earmarked for road, street, and drainage projects in Korangi and Malir districts.
The budget documents further indicate plans to launch several new projects in Karachi.
Among them is a proposed allocation of Rs400 million for the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Center in Karachi. Another Rs390 million has been proposed for the upgradation of the National Research and Fertility Care facility.
In addition, the federal government has proposed Rs50 million for the establishment of the National University of Nursing in Karachi.
The proposed allocations are expected to be reviewed and finalized as part of the federal budget process before formal approval by Parliament.
