Ipsos Survey: Public Calls Pakistan’s Mediation Role in Iran–US Tensions a “Diplomatic Success”

Lahore: A recent survey by global research firm Ipsos has revealed that a majority of Pakistanis view the country’s mediation efforts in easing tensions between Iran and the United States as a major diplomatic achievement.
According to the survey, nearly 75% of respondents in Pakistan are now aware of the country’s role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and United States. This marks a significant increase from 65% in the previous phase, with awareness notably higher among middle- and upper-income groups.
Among those aware, a majority described the initiative as a “national success,” stating that it has improved Pakistan’s global image and strengthened its position in international diplomacy.
The survey also highlighted public credit given to political and military leadership. Respondents largely credited Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their roles in advancing diplomatic efforts. Some respondents also acknowledged the contributions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
On the international front, respondents identified China as the most influential partner in supporting the mediation process, followed by Turkey. The roles of Saudi Arabia and Russia were also acknowledged by participants.
Analysts say the findings reflect Pakistan’s growing diplomatic relevance and its increasingly active role in global geopolitical affairs.
