PTI Sheltered Terrorists, TTP Will Be Eliminated, Says Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Ullah Tarar has accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of harboring terrorists, stating that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is an enemy of the state and will be pursued until its complete elimination.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the minister said that PTI leaders referred to terrorists as “martyrs” but never spoke a word in support of the Pakistan Army, highlighting the party’s political agenda. “When we talk against the banned TTP, PTI members falter. Why doesn’t PTI speak against the Taliban? The political wing of disruption is responsible for the terrorism the nation is suffering today,” he added.
Atta Tarar praised the Awami National Party (ANP) for its sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, contrasting it with PTI’s alleged leniency toward militants. He recalled that Operation Zarb-e-Azb successfully eradicated terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Economic Achievements:
The minister said that despite Pakistan facing a potential default, the current government has stabilized the economy, earning the confidence of the business community. He highlighted increasing foreign exchange reserves, strong stock market performance, and remittances of $3.6 billion in December 2025.
He also mentioned trade successes during Prime Minister’s visits abroad, including Malaysia’s interest in importing halal meat and rice from Pakistan, and the resumption of international flights. Atta Tarar cited defense agreements with Saudi Arabia and trade progress with Malaysia as notable achievements.
Diplomatic Successes:
Atta Tarar said Pakistan had faced diplomatic isolation under PTI, but the current government is successfully strengthening the country’s international standing. He emphasized that overseas Pakistanis are now investing confidently in the country, contrasting it with PTI’s attempts to block remittances.
Military and Strategic Successes:
The minister highlighted 2025 as a year of both military and economic achievements, noting Pakistan’s decisive victories under Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He praised the country’s armed forces for defeating larger adversaries, including shooting down Indian fighter jets, earning global recognition.
Condemnation of Women’s Harassment:
Atta Tarar criticized incidents of harassment against women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling the provincial government’s behavior “shameful.” He condemned derogatory remarks against female leaders during visits to Lahore, emphasizing that attacking women is the act of cowards.
Governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
The minister criticized 12 years of mismanagement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, citing poor governance in health and education sectors despite claims of infrastructure development. He contrasted this with visible development projects in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, stating that the current government is fostering progress across the country.
Atta Ullah Tarar concluded that the government remains committed to combating terrorism, strengthening the economy, and promoting good governance while holding PTI accountable for past failures.
