Pakistan Helped Prevent Oil Prices from Surging to $250 per Barrel Amid Iran-US Tensions: Ahsan Iqbal

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that if Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir had not played a role in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, global oil prices could have surged beyond $250 per barrel.
Addressing a corner meeting in Shakargarh, the minister stated that tensions between the US and Iran had created a global oil crisis, but diplomatic efforts were underway to ensure a complete resolution of the conflict and stabilize energy prices.
Ahsan Iqbal further said that Pakistan has played an effective role in promoting peace in the region, which helped prevent significant damage to the global economy.
He added that continued diplomatic engagement is essential to avoid further escalation and to ensure long-term stability in energy markets.
