Heatwave Alert Issued in Sindh, Karachi Expected to Face Hot Weather

KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert across Sindh, warning of a rise in temperatures across several parts of the province.
According to the Met Office, daytime temperatures are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal in various regions of Sindh from today until May 3. Most parts of the province are likely to experience hot, very hot, and dry weather conditions.
The alert mainly covers upper and central districts of Sindh, including Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur, where significantly higher-than-normal temperatures are expected during the day.
In Karachi, however, hot weather conditions are also expected until Thursday, with maximum temperatures likely to exceed 36°C. The humidity level may rise up to 60 percent, which could make the heat feel more intense than the actual temperature.
Officials clarified that Karachi is not part of the heatwave zone as it lies in lower Sindh, while the heatwave is expected to primarily affect central and upper Sindh.
Experts have advised citizens, especially women, children, and the elderly, to take precautionary measures during the heatwave. They recommend avoiding direct exposure to sunlight during peak hours and increasing water intake to stay hydrated.
