Punjab Decides to Establish ‘Anti-Drone Units’ in All Districts for the First Time in Pakistan’s History

Lahore: In a significant move to strengthen security and maintain law and order, the provincial government has decided to establish “Anti-Drone Units” in all districts of Punjab for the first time in the country’s history.

According to officials, the anti-drone units will conduct aerial surveillance of districts with the help of special drone fleets. Each district will also be equipped with an anti-drone system designed to detect and neutralize unauthorized drones.

The District Police Officer (DPO) in every district will supervise the Anti-Drone Unit and the Anti-Drone System. Using advanced jamming technology, the systems will be capable of disabling drones operated by hostile or miscreant elements.

Authorities said the initiative aims to enhance the operational capacity of the police for aerial monitoring and public safety. The decision has been taken in line with modern counter-terrorism requirements and efforts to maintain a stable law and order situation.

Surveillance drones and anti-drone systems will be provided according to the security needs of each district.

Meanwhile, Section 144 has already been imposed across Punjab banning the outdoor flying of drones. The provincial government introduced the restriction due to security concerns, although law enforcement and intelligence agencies are exempt from the ban.

Officials have urged citizens to strictly comply with the restrictions on drone flying, emphasizing that ensuring public safety, maintaining peace, and protecting property remain the top priorities of the Punjab government.
