Dilapidated Magsi Bridge in Sohbatpur Raises Risk of Major Accident, Public Questions Government Inaction

Sohbatpur (Daily Qudrat Quetta): The main bridge located on the “Ouch Shakh” branch originating from the Pat Feeder Canal in Sohbatpur has deteriorated to a critical condition, raising fears of a serious accident at any time.
According to details, the bridge—locally known as Magsi Bridge and situated near a police checkpoint on the Nasir Shakh—has completed its service life and is now in an extremely fragile state. Local sources said that the structure, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Drainage Department, has already witnessed minor accidents.
Due to its unsafe condition, transporters and heavy vehicle drivers have reportedly stopped using the route after sunset to avoid potential loss of life and property. Deep potholes in the middle of the bridge have also made it difficult for pedestrians and motorcyclists to cross safely.
Political and social circles in the area have urged the Government of Balochistan and the Irrigation Department to immediately repair or reconstruct the bridge before a major human tragedy occurs. Residents stressed that the bridge serves as a vital link for transportation in the region, and its closure or collapse could severely disrupt daily life and movement.
