Clashes Erupt at Punjab University as Student Group, Security Guards Injured

Violence broke out at University of the Punjab after members of a student organization allegedly assaulted security guards and caused property damage on campus.

According to details, the incident occurred outside the university’s Law College, where a dispute reportedly began between student activists and a security guard. The situation escalated when members of the student group allegedly attacked the guard, smashed vehicle windows, and threw glass bottles at security personnel. Several guards were reported injured in the confrontation.

Police arrived at the scene after being informed and have initiated legal proceedings.

A university spokesperson stated that the altercation began when members of the student organization attempted to forcibly enter the Law College after it had been closed. When security personnel denied entry, they were allegedly targeted and assaulted. The spokesperson added that those involved in the unrest would face action in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, representatives of the student organization claimed that despite prior permission to hold an iftar gathering, efforts were made to halt the event, which led to disorder and ultimately escalated into violence.

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine responsibility and ensure accountability.
