Global Craze for “Labubu” Toy Hits Pakistan, Becomes Top Trend

Karachi: A peculiar little toy named Labubu is taking Pakistan by storm, quickly climbing to the top of social media and Google trends. With its bizarre teeth, long pointed ears, and mischievous grin, Labubu — originally designed by Chinese collectible giant Pop Mart — has become a global sensation, evolving beyond just a children’s toy into a status symbol among fashion enthusiasts and young adults.
Millions of videos, images, and comments about Labubu have flooded social platforms, reflecting the toy’s explosive popularity. What was once a quirky collectible is now seen attached to backpacks, belts, handbags, and even pet leashes.
Last month on Thursday, June 12, fans gathered at Washington Square Park in New York City for a Labubu-themed fashion show. Participants showcased the toy in the most creative ways, with the most stylish presentation earning the winner a new Labubu figure and a designer pouch.
According to Pop Mart, Labubu is a small, odd-looking creature known for its sharp ears, chipped teeth, and cheeky smile. The company has created hundreds of variations of the toy, but there’s a catch: buyers only discover which version they’ve purchased after unboxing, adding to the excitement.
Retailing for around $30 USD, Labubu toys often sell out within minutes. Dedicated fans — including toy collectors, fashion influencers, and even parents — have been seen lining up outside Pop Mart stores and vending machines, with some traveling internationally just to snag a rare piece. Certain rare editions are now being resold online for hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
The global Labubu mania shows no signs of slowing down, and with Pakistan joining in the trend, it’s clear this tiny creature has captured the hearts — and wallets — of fans worldwide.
