Rabi Al-Thani Moon Likely to Be Sighted on September 23: SUPARCO

Karachi: The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has announced the expected sighting schedule for the new moon of Rabi Al-Thani 1447 Hijri.

According to SUPARCO, the new moon will be born on **September 22, 2025, at 12:54 AM (PST)**. By sunset on **September 23, 2025**, the moon will be approximately **41 hours and 54 minutes old**, with an expected **46-minute duration between sunset and moonset** in coastal areas.

Based on astronomical calculations, there are strong chances of moon sighting across Pakistan on the evening of **September 23, 2025**, provided the weather remains clear. Consequently, the first day of **Rabi Al-Thani 1447 Hijri is likely to fall on September 24, 2025**.

However, a SUPARCO spokesperson clarified that the **final announcement regarding the beginning of the Islamic month will only be made by Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee**, which is the sole authority to confirm moon sighting based on credible testimonies from across the country.
