CM Sarfraz Bugti Pledges Stronger Support for Persons with Disabilities Under Kamak Endowment Fund

QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening support for persons with disabilities under the “Kamak Endowment Fund,” aiming to transform it into a comprehensive empowerment model.

The pledge was made during the second meeting of the Provincial Council of the Kamak Support Fund, held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare Haji Wali Muhammad Noorzai, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, senior officials from relevant departments, and representatives of organizations working for persons with disabilities.

The meeting decided to expand ongoing welfare programs for persons with disabilities across the province and ensure transparent and effective implementation. The chief minister directed that monthly financial assistance for registered persons with disabilities be significantly increased to help them lead dignified lives.

Approval was also granted for the immediate procurement of assistive devices, including electric wheelchairs and other supportive equipment, to ensure timely facilitation for those in need.

Bugti emphasized that the program would be gradually expanded to reach every registered person with disabilities in the province. He stated that under the Kamak Endowment Fund, the journey from disability to self-reliance would be placed on strong foundations, transforming the initiative from a relief scheme into a comprehensive empowerment framework.

The chief minister also announced educational support and scholarships for students with disabilities from matriculation to PhD level, ensuring equal access to higher education. He directed authorities to promote technical and vocational training programs, provide skill development opportunities, and supply mobility aids to enable persons with disabilities to actively participate in practical life.

Reaffirming his commitment to economic inclusion, Bugti said interest-free loans would also be provided to facilitate self-employment, enabling beneficiaries to become financially independent.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the chief minister instructed relevant authorities to ensure immediate and effective implementation of the decisions so that tangible improvements in the welfare of persons with disabilities could be achieved at the earliest.
