Federal Government Directs Uninterrupted Power Supply During Sehri and Iftar in Ramadan

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Power Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has directed authorities to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during Sehri and Iftar throughout Ramadan.
The instructions were issued to the Power Division, which has circulated standard operating procedures (SOPs) to all electricity distribution companies, including K-Electric, to guarantee smooth power supply during the holy month.
The minister also instructed all DISCOs to promptly address consumer complaints and directed chief executive officers of distribution companies to establish dedicated control rooms to monitor the situation.
According to the Power Division, areas with high transmission losses will continue to be dealt with under the ongoing anti-electricity theft campaign to prevent further accumulation of losses and outstanding dues. However, even in high-loss areas, load-shedding will not be carried out during Sehri and Iftar.
The government has decided that load management in such areas, if necessary, will be adjusted to hours other than Sehri and Iftar. The minister further instructed DISCOs to strictly avoid unannounced load-shedding during Ramadan.
