Kashmir Is Not Just a Dispute but the World’s Most Dangerous Nuclear Flashpoint: Mishaal Malik

Lahore: Mishaal Hussain Malik, wife of detained Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, has said that Kashmir is not merely a political dispute but one of the world’s most dangerous nuclear flashpoints, as she highlighted the deteriorating human rights situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
In a video message, Mishaal Malik said that voices raised for peace and freedom in occupied Kashmir have been criminalized. She stated that Yasin Malik is currently held in a death cell and alleged that the Modi government is attempting to execute him.
She emphasized that the issue is not limited to a single individual or family but reflects a broader attempt to silence the entire Kashmiri nation. According to her, keeping Yasin Malik in a death cell amounts to collective punishment of the Kashmiri people, aimed at suppressing the leadership and crushing demands for peace and self-determination.
Mishaal Malik questioned whether peace is possible under the shadow of oppression, saying that the demand for peace and freedom has been turned into a crime for Kashmiris. She added that the world’s silence in the face of ongoing violence in Kashmir is deeply troubling.
In her message, she said that fear dominates every aspect of life in occupied Kashmir, where even tears are restrained and every heartbeat is overshadowed by insecurity. She concluded by asking what kind of justice allows such conditions to persist, while calling on the international community to break its silence and take notice of the situation in Kashmir.
