“Abusive Language Will Not Come from My Mouth in Future”: Arrested Singer Shahswar Apologises

PESHAWAR (Daily Qudrat): After a video of abusive language went viral on social media, arrested Pashto singer Shahswar, expressing remorse over his action, apologised to the Pashtun nation and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and promised not to use foul language in future.
In a video message released in the presence of police, Shahswar said: “I regret my action; abusive language will not come from my mouth in future — this is my promise and commitment.” Apologising to the Pashtun nation and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, he also appealed to all Pakistani TikTokers to avoid abusive language on social media and to demonstrate responsibility.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, police at Gulbahar police station in Peshawar, acting on complaints from citizens and social media users, arrested Pashto singer Shahswar. A police spokesman said the singer is accused of continuously using foul words, abusive language and indecent language on various social media platforms.
Police officials made clear that violation of the law is not acceptable under any circumstances, whether an ordinary citizen or a well-known personality is involved. Social media cannot be allowed to be used for abusive language and misbehaviour, and action against violators will continue in accordance with the law.
Police urged citizens, particularly influential individuals and showbiz personalities, to demonstrate responsibility in the use of social media and to observe civility and moral values during conversation.
Shahswar has previously made headlines on various occasions. In 2017 as well, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police had arrested him on allegations of raping a girl.
After the recent arrest and apology in the social media abusive language case, the matter is once again under discussion — that along with freedom of expression on social media, civility and responsibility must also be demonstrated.
