Allegations of Judicial Helplessness, Basant Remarks: Aleema Khan Speaks to Media

Rawalpindi: Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has made strong remarks about the judicial process and also linked the revival of Basant celebrations in Lahore to her brother.
Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Aleema Khan said that it appeared judges had “raised their hands in helplessness,” adding that their expressions showed they were powerless. She alleged that poor police officials were being forced to lie in courts. “People expect justice from the courts, but the message being conveyed is that there is no hope for justice in the current system,” she said, adding that she already knew a sentence would be handed down.
Commenting on Basant, Aleema Khan claimed that Lahore is celebrating the festival because of Imran Khan. She said Lahoris should thank the PTI founder, adding that on Basant day, the sky would be filled with kites associated with him.
She further said that a meeting of all parliamentarians had been called to formulate a future course of action.
Addressing Imran Khan’s health, Aleema Khan said the family wanted Dr Asim Yousaf to conduct his medical check-up. She added that due to her national identity card being blocked, she was unable to file any petition in court. She also alleged that despite assurances from the Chief Justice of Pakistan that Imran Khan’s medical report would be shared with the family, they had not yet received it.
Aleema Khan claimed that Sher Afzal Marwat and Mishal Yousafzai had been assigned the task of diverting public attention. She also said she had approached three courts seeking permission to travel abroad for fundraising purposes, but her request was rejected.
She further stated that Bushra Bibi’s daughter informed her after a recent meeting that Imran Khan had suffered from blurred vision in one eye for two weeks. Aleema Khan said she had also spoken to Barrister Gohar Khan and reiterated the family’s demand that their own doctor be allowed to examine Imran Khan’s eye. Questioning the authorities, she asked why medical reports were not being provided to the family.
She alleged that efforts were being made to divert attention from February 8, adding that Mahmood Khan Achakzai had written a letter to the prime minister urging that Imran Khan’s eye be examined by personal physicians first. Aleema Khan concluded by saying that whenever they asked Imran Khan about his health, he tended to downplay his condition.
