Pashtun National Awami Party Warns Against District Mergers Without Consultation with Pashtun and Baloch Communities

**Quetta:** The Pashtun National Awami Party (PNAP) has strongly rejected any administrative plans involving the merger of districts, creation of new districts, or formation of new divisions in Balochistan without prior consultation and consent from the Pashtun and Baloch communities.
In an official press release from the party’s central secretariat, PNAP stated that recent social media reports discussing the merger of certain districts and the creation of new administrative units are unacceptable if carried out without the agreement of the two equal-status communities, Pashtuns and Balochs. The party emphasized that any such action must respect the rights, history, language, and culture of the provincial communities.
PNAP highlighted that the principle of consent and inclusion of communities was established under the framework of the March 23, 1940 Resolution, which recognized autonomous and empowered units within the country. The party condemned what it described as the erosion of these historic rights, ongoing political instability, and the denial of essential public services such as gas, electricity, education, and healthcare, in addition to encroachments on natural resources, forests, and lands.
The press release stated that any proposals for merging districts or creating new administrative divisions must first be publicly announced, suggestions sought from the people, and particularly agreed upon through mutual consultation between the province’s two equal-status communities. PNAP warned that if the government proceeds with such decisions unilaterally, the party will organize protests with the support of the public, holding the government fully accountable for any consequences.
