Foods That Help People Suffering From Lack of Sleep

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):** If you are in the habit of staying awake late at night without any specific reason, it is important to know that lack of sleep increases the risk of several life-threatening diseases. Insomnia or poor sleep is often linked to heart disease and stroke.

However, if you struggle to fall asleep despite wanting a peaceful night’s rest and spend hours tossing and turning, the solution may be simpler than you think. You do not need intense effort or strong sleeping pills. A small change in your diet can significantly improve both the quality and duration of your sleep.

Health experts recommend consuming the following foods before bedtime, as they can help you fall asleep faster and enjoy deeper sleep:

**Banana**
Bananas are easily available and highly effective for better sleep. They contain the amino acid tryptophan and magnesium, which help the body produce melatonin—the hormone responsible for regulating sleep.

**Milk**
Milk is also rich in tryptophan. Drinking a glass of warm milk before bedtime can help relax the body and promote sound sleep.

**Honey**
Eating a spoonful of honey before going to bed may help you sleep deeply. Honey contains tryptophan and natural sugars that slightly increase insulin levels, helping tryptophan reach the brain more easily.

**Jalebi**
Consuming jalebi can naturally raise blood sugar and insulin levels, which may help induce sleep more quickly than usual. However, experts advise moderation due to its high sugar content.

**Cherries**
Cherries are easily available in this season. A glass of cherry juice before bedtime can increase melatonin levels. According to an American medical study, cherry juice can help you fall into deep sleep within minutes.

**Almonds**
Almonds are rich in magnesium, a mineral essential for quality sleep and bone health. Research suggests that magnesium deficiency can lead to sleep disturbances.

Experts emphasize that along with a balanced diet, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and proper sleep routine is key to preventing sleep disorders and improving overall health.
