PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets President Erdogan, Reaffirms Strong Pakistan–Türkiye Ties

Ashgabat: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which both leaders reaffirmed the significance of the **historic and deep-rooted brotherly relations** between Pakistan and Türkiye.
According to reports, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening **political, energy, economic, defence, and investment cooperation**. He also voiced satisfaction over the **16th session of the Pakistan–Türkiye Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC)**.
PM Shehbaz thanked Türkiye for its **facilitative role in negotiations between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban**, noting that lasting peace would be possible only when Pakistan’s **security concerns are fully addressed**.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of **timely implementation** of all MoUs and agreements signed between the two countries. He said Pakistan is keen to benefit from Türkiye’s **expertise in the privatization of electricity distribution companies**, and shared that ministerial-level exchanges in this regard would take place soon.
PM Shehbaz also appreciated President Erdogan’s **strong commitment to peace efforts in Gaza**, acknowledging Ankara’s continued diplomatic support.
