Green Bus Shortage in Quetta Forces Citizens to Wait Hours, Rickshaw Fares Soar

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat):** The Green Bus service in Quetta, intended to ease public transport, has instead become a source of frustration for citizens. After the introduction of the Green Bus system, authorities banned old buses, creating a shortage of available buses and leaving residents stranded for hours while trying to reach their destinations.

In areas such as Samungli Road and Brewery Road, Green Bus services have not yet started, causing severe inconvenience to the public. Meanwhile, rickshaw operators have raised fares from 200 to 500 rupees, placing a heavy burden on daily-wage workers and low-income residents.

Although the Government of Balochistan introduced Green Buses for public convenience, restrictions on old buses, coupled with insufficient Green Bus availability, have turned the service into a source of difficulty rather than relief. Citizens now face long waits even on routes where the buses operate.

Public circles have urged Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti and relevant authorities to either lift the ban on old buses or immediately increase the number of Green Buses to provide genuine relief to the people.
