Balochistan Grand Alliance Announces Strike and Full Lockdown to Protest Government Policies

Quetta – The Government Teachers Association (GTA) Balochistan announced that, following the call of the Balochistan Grand Alliance, a province-wide “pen and work” strike will commence today, December 29, while a complete lockdown across Balochistan is planned for December 30 and 31.

In an official statement, the GTA highlighted that Balochistan’s 250,000 employees are fighting for their rights, survival, and the secure future of children. The movement has been reignited after what the association described as government malice, broken promises, and token assurances.

Employees have been urged to demonstrate unity and ensure that no work is carried out in government offices, sending a clear message that all employees, from Zhob to Gwadar, are united in their protest. The association also affirmed its determination to resist any government pressure, coercion, or intimidation and vowed to continue the struggle until their rights are fully realized.

The protest underscores growing discontent among provincial employees over government policies and the ongoing fight for labor and educational rights in Balochistan.
