Haji Wali Muhammad Barich Strongly Reacts to Balochistan CM’s Statement

QUETTA: Haji Wali Muhammad Barich has strongly reacted to Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s statement regarding the owners of orchards from where attacks on security forces are carried out.

Sarfraz Bugti had said that the owner of an orchard from which security forces come under attack would be considered a facilitator of terrorists, adding that the punishment for a facilitator would also not be significantly less than that for a terrorist.

Reacting to the statement, Haji Wali Muhammad Barich expressed surprise at the chief minister’s approach.

He said the chief minister was speaking as if an orchard were a house that its owner had rented out to terrorists.

Barich further remarked that the people involved were more powerful than the orchard owners and, if they wished, could force an orchard owner to leave his own property.

He questioned what protection the authorities could provide to orchard owners if such a situation arose, urging the chief minister to consider the possible consequences for the owners of the orchards.
